Oddly bizarre: no other way to describe the impression I've got once I arrived in Christchurch. It was like walking around in a ghost town... A few months after those huge Earthquakes and aftershocks, I found a destroyed city with frightened people hidden in their houses, trying to go on with their lives. And abandoned houses cracked and condemned, left by their owners with no expectation of being rebuilt. But the strange thing was to see lots of beautiful small flowers blossoming around everywhere in many flower-beds even in the CBD - closed to visit (actually, forbidden to walk around due the danger...).
In opposite to death, I found life in Lyttelton Harbour and Diamond Harbour. The unique turquoise blue colour of the sea surrounding the green grass of Mount Herbert; and flowers, birds, and sheeps... Lucky to be there on a sunny day! That's where I felt peace on Earth. Enjoy!
